‘I Went Days Without Food or Bathing’ – Peller Recalls Police Detention

Controversial streamer Peller has spoken publicly for the first time following his four-day detention by the police.

Peller was arrested on July 3, 2026, after a confrontation with police officers whom he accused of pointing a firearm at him following a stop over his tinted vehicle.

He was subsequently arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court on charges bordering on conspiracy to commit a felony, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and obstruction of police officers while carrying out their lawful duties.

The court, however, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000, alongside other conditions.

Speaking about his experience after regaining his freedom, Peller took to his Snapchat page to explain why he had yet to resume live streaming.

According to him, “I didn’t bathe or eat for four days. I can’t show my face yet because I look ugly. It has never happened to me before in my life.”

He further recounted his experience in detention, saying, “When they put me in the cell, the people there said, ‘You’re our 001 now.’ Omo, I just burst into laughter. I didn’t eat or bathe for four days. They wanted to deal with me, but God saved me.”

BACKSTORY:

Peller’s arrest followed an altercation with police officers in Lagos after he was stopped while driving a vehicle with tinted windows. The social media personality alleged that officers pointed a gun at him during the encounter, a claim that generated widespread reactions online after videos of the incident circulated on social media.

He was subsequently arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and obstructing police officers in the discharge of their duties. Peller pleaded not guilty to the charges, after which the court granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with conditions, pending the commencement of trial.

The incident reignited public conversations about police conduct, the enforcement of traffic regulations involving tinted vehicles, and the treatment of social media personalities during encounters with law enforcement. Since regaining his freedom, Peller has been sharing details of his experience in detention, including his latest claim that he spent four days without food or bathing while in police custody. The allegations have not been independently verified by authorities.
