Anthony Placid, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, has been appointed as the Nigeria Police Force’s new Force Public Relations Officer by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu.
Placid replaces the outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.
Hundeyin, who signed on as the departing spokesperson at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, made this announcement in a statement released on Sunday.

Anthony Placid is an experienced police officer with a wealth of knowledge in operations, administration, intelligence, training, and international peacekeeping, according to the statement.
Born on December 2, 1970, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, he hails from Mbiokporo Nsit in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of the state.

Placid graduated from the University of Uyo with a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Regional Planning and the University of Jos with a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy.
Additionally, he pursued a Bachelor of Laws degree at the National Open University of Nigeria.
The statement further added that Placid “was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police at the Police Academy, Kano, in 1996, and was commissioned in August 1998.

Placid is a Commonwealth Human Rights Trainer, a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and a trainer for the International Committee of the Red Cross on International Humanitarian Law.
Prior to his redeployment to Cross River State, he was inducted as a Member of the National Institute (mni) on December 13, 2025, after completing Senior Executive Course 47 at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.
