Former Minister of Transportation and ADC presidential aspirant,  Rotimi Amaechi, has has declared himself the best and most qualified  presidential aspirant in the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, he presented himself as a strong contender in the ADC, which is expected to be a crowded field that also includes Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, the former head of the Northern Nigeria Development Company, and former vice president Atiku Abubakar.

Amaechi cited his leadership experience when asked why the ADC should select him over more well-known candidates like Atiku and Hayatu-Deen.

“I’m the most experienced of them all. I’m the youngest but most experienced.

“I have been chairman of the Governors’ Forum. None of them, including President Tinubu, has been chairman of the Governors’ Forum because he was once a governor,” he said.

He added, “I’ve been chairman of the Speakers’ Forum. None of them has been… In fact, President Tinubu was partially in the parliament as a senator. But how long was he a senator? And what positions did he hold in the Senate? But I held not just the speaker.

What I’ll do first as President

While speaking, Amaechi said President Bola Tinubu is creating hunger as a way of manipulating voters.

He said, “The president is creating hunger as a way of manipulating voters. On that day, city boys will bring a bag of rice and some people will eat that rice and vote for them because a bag of rice does not solve hunger for the rest of the year,” he said.

He also stated that his first priority if elected president would be the enforcement of law and order. He further alleged that the APC is undermining the opposition by influencing political and government institutions against them.

“If the APC said they are strong, why are they influencing the government institutions against the opposition? Why won’t they leave the rule of law?

“The first thing I will do as president of Nigeria is the rule of law. There has to be law and order.

“A bag of rice does not solve hunger for the rest of the year. If APC is as strong as they claim, why are they not allowing opposition parties to thrive?”

BACKSTORY…

Recall that just few days ago, the ADC screened the former minister of transportation, Atiku Abubakar and Hayatu-Deen at its national secretariat in Abuja.

Meanwhile, Amaechi has advised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to allow the party primaries decide the candidate, following Atiku’s rejection of zoning.
