Gumi Fully Denies Photos, Videos of Him Supporting Bandits, Says “They’re Doctored”

Popular and controversial Islamic cleric, Ahmad Abubakar Mahmoud Gumi, has completely denied allegations linking him to statements supporting bandit attacks in Nigeria, describing such claims as false, manipulated, and malicious.

Gumi said in a statement on his verified Facebook page on Saturday that he had noticed ethnic-interest groups, prejudiced individuals, and sectional online content creators deliberately misrepresenting some of his media interviews on banditry and insecurity.

He also added that those invlved used “sensational and outrageous headlines” to draw public attention and online viewership “at the expense of human suffering and sacrifice.”
Gumi stated unequivocally that he had never supported or justified banditry in any form.
