The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over criticisms surrounding the country’s security challenges.
Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organized by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, Adeboye said Nigerians should not expect Tinubu to personally take up arms in the fight against insecurity.
According to him, the President’s responsibility is to issue directives and ensure that the security agencies carry out their duties effectively.
Adeboye dismissed claims that Tinubu was not doing enough, stressing that leadership at the top is about giving instructions, not being physically present on the battlefield.
Drawing a comparison, he referenced Donald Trump, saying world leaders often issue commands while their teams execute them.
The cleric maintained his support for Tinubu’s handling of insecurity, even as he acknowledged that security threats appear to be getting closer to his area.
“He said things have gotten much, much worse than before the bomb happened,” he added, referring to the US bombing of Islamist terrorists in Nigeria last December.

The remarks by Enoch Adeboye come amid growing criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over worsening insecurity across Nigeria, including rising cases of banditry, kidnappings, and terrorist attacks in several parts of the country.
Security concerns have remained one of the biggest challenges facing the Tinubu administration, with opposition figures and civil society groups repeatedly calling for stronger action.
Adeboye’s comments add to the ongoing national debate over leadership responsibility in addressing insecurity, with differing views on whether the government’s current strategies are yielding enough results.
