BACKSTORY…
The ongoing protests in Abuja come amid growing public concern over the worsening security situation in Nigeria, particularly repeated cases of mass abductions and violent attacks in different parts of the country.
In recent weeks, incidents involving the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in states such as Oyo and Borno have sparked outrage and renewed criticism of the government’s handling of security challenges. These developments have fueled anger among citizens, leading to calls for urgent reforms and stronger protection measures.
The demonstrations in the capital have since gained momentum, with protesters demanding immediate action from the federal government to address insecurity and ensure the safe return of victims of abduction.
