Israel has launched an unprovoked attack on Iran, despite ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and the United States.

The nation’s defence minister declared on Saturday morning that his nation had attacked Iran with missiles.

Early Saturday, missiles hit University Street and the Jomhouri neighbourhood of Tehran, the Iranian capital, according to Al Jazeera.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, the Israeli attack happened the day after the US and Iran held oblique talks over Iran’s nuclear program.

The mediator in the negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the foreign minister of Oman, stated on Friday that he thought all the problems in an agreement between the US and Iran could be settled “amicably and comprehensively” in a few months.

However, ,the nation which had been pushing the US to attack Iran, could not wait for the talks and launched its attack on Saturday. Although President Donald Trump had voiced dissatisfaction with the sluggish progress of the nuclear negotiations with Iran, the United States has not entered the conflict as of the time of this report.

Israel has invaded Iran twice in less than a year, sparking a full-scale conflict each time.

The 12-day conflict between the two nations, which resulted from the first in June of last year, claimed hundreds of lives and destroyed infrastructure on both sides.

On Friday, many countries, including the US, China and the UK, asked their citizens to leave Iran and Israel amidst fears of a war.

This latest strike comes barely twenty four hours after the US Embassy in Israel warned its employees to  leave the country amid talks of airstrikes.
