Governor Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has disclosed his reasons for switching from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to reports, the governor declared earlier this week that he was leaving the main opposition party to join the APC.
The governor stated that he chose to support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection campaign while speaking at the government house in Port Harcourt on Friday and accepting the APC membership card from the party’s chairman, Chief Tony Okocha.

Governor Fubara emphasised that joining the APC allows the state the chance to have a positive working relationship with the president, characterising the move as a “spiritual assignment.”
“As you have said, this is indeed a spiritual assignment because it concerns the safety, progress, and growth of Rivers State.
“We cannot pursue a different direction when the President is pursuing another.
“Joining the APC is part of our commitment to ensure a seamless working relationship and to contribute meaningfully to his reelection efforts in Rivers State”, he said.
Governor Fubara thanked the party leadership for the cordial welcome and stated that he chose to support the APC for the stability and advancement of the state.
He also promised to bolster the APC in the state, promising to fully assist the party’s officials, members, and structure.

“This is now your home, Mr Chairman. You are welcome here anytime. We will keep the APC active and fully functional in Rivers State, and every need of the party will be taken care of,” Governor Fubara affirmed.
