The Jigawa State Government has approved a total of ₦419.47 million to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and pay allowances to frontline health workers across the state.

The decision was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa, following the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held in Dutse on Tuesday.
According to him, ₦362.8 million will be allocated to 281 accredited Primary Health Care (PHC) centres across the 27 Local Government Areas under the Direct Facility Financing scheme of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund. The funds will cover operational needs from July to December 2025.
He explained that the intervention is designed to enhance the efficiency of health centres, ensure the availability of essential medicines, and improve service delivery, particularly in rural areas where access to healthcare remains limited.

Musa added that the initiative is also aimed at strengthening the state’s healthcare system and supporting progress toward achieving universal health coverage.
In addition, the council approved ₦56.67 million for allowances covering frontline health workers over the same six-month period.
Beneficiaries include 75 midwives, 650 Community Health Influencers, Promoters and Services (CHIPS) agents, and 130 Community Engagement Focal Persons who support maternal and child health services, disease prevention, and public health awareness at the community level.
The Jigawa commissioner noted that the combined approvals reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare delivery and motivating grassroots health workers.
