He cautioned all health officials, hospital management teams, and community leaders in Jigawa to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries access the services.

According to Mr. Surajo, the directive follows the launch of the health initiative by Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi’s administration, designed to alleviate the burden of long-term illnesses for vulnerable residents across the state.

Under the programme, patients diagnosed with Diabetes, Hypertension, and Sickle Cell Disease are entitled to free medical care, both as outpatients and inpatients.

He explained that the comprehensive package includes laboratory tests, radiological examinations such as X-rays and ultrasounds, provision of essential medications, and physiotherapy services.

The free healthcare services in Jigawa are available in selected public health facilities across the state, including General Hospitals in Dutse, Hadejia, Gumel, Kazaure, Ringim, Birnin Kudu, Jahun, Babura, Kafin Hausa, and Birniwa, as well as Bulangu and Gwaram Cottage Hospitals.

The statement further noted, “All Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants in the health sector, hospital management teams, and host communities are hereby directed to ensure that this privilege is not exploited by non-beneficiaries.”

The initiative aims to expand access to affordable, high-quality healthcare for residents, particularly those living with chronic illnesses in Jigawa.
