The Kano State Special Taskforce Committee on Illegal Structures has resealed a block manufacturing site located near the Zaria Road flyover after its operators allegedly ignored a government directive halting construction activities.
According to the committee, an inspection revealed that work had continued on the property despite an earlier seal order, with the owners reportedly constructing a large gate in violation of the government’s instruction.
Chairman of the committee and Director-General of the Kano Geographic Information System (KANGIS), Dr Dalhatu Aliyu Sani, described the development as a clear breach of the law.
“It is unlawful for anyone to continue construction after a property has been sealed by the government. Such actions will not be tolerated,” he said.
Dr Sani explained that the taskforce was established to enforce proper urban planning, strengthen security and ensure a cleaner, safer environment across Kano State.
“We are carrying out this assignment in the interest of Kano’s development. The committee will continue to operate around the clock, including weekends, to ensure compliance with land administration laws,” he stated.
He noted that many residents had supported the committee by reporting illegal developments and complying with government directives.
The KANGIS boss added that the committee operates professionally and impartially, warning that anyone found violating land and building regulations would face legal action. He also stressed that the taskforce does not accept any form of inducement and urged developers to obtain the necessary approvals before commencing construction.
Dr Sani further appealed to members of the public to report cases of illegal building activities to the appropriate authorities.
During the enforcement exercise, the committee also sealed an uncompleted building at Dangauro Market, alleging that it was being erected on government land without an approved building permit or the required documentation.
The committee directed the developer behind the project to report to KANGIS immediately or risk legal action.

The committee said the enforcement exercise is part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with planning regulations and safeguard orderly development in Kano State.
