KWAM1 makes bold declaration of interest in becoming next Awujale of Ijebuland

Renowned Nigerian musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam1 or K1 De Ultimate, has formally expressed interest in ascending the Awujale throne.

He announced his intention in a letter addressed to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

In his proposal, Kwam1 stated that his pursuit of the royal seat is in accordance with the Ogun State chieftaincy laws and Ijebu customary traditions.

The 68-year-old who traced his eligibility to his royal lineage of Jadiara line of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Agunsebi Quarters, cited his 50 years of cultural advocacy through his music.

“I, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Olasunkanmi Omogbolahan Anifowoshe, MON, formally notify the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of my intention to be considered for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland”.

It was reported that Kwam1’s application came a few months after the death of the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who died at 91 in July 2025 after a 64-year reign.
