As security operations against insurgency intensify in Kwara State, suspected bandits have reportedly issued a notice threatening attacks on three communities in Oyun Local Government Area.

According to the notification, the planned targets are Ira, Inaja, and Aho communities, all within the local government area. The warning letter was allegedly signed by a group identifying itself as the Nigeria Terrorists Association (NTA).

The letter was said to have been discovered after it was dropped at the Ira market area, raising fresh security concerns among residents.

It was reported that the letter which has created panic and tension among residents has also geared all the security agencies into series of operationally preparedness.

The members of the terrorist group, claimed to have left Kaiama in Kwara North Senatorial District to Oyun local government, in the Kwara South and “they shall be coming to attack Ira town, Inaja and Aho village anytime soon.”

A security source said the Nigerian Army ‘FORWARD OPERATION BASE’ FOB, in Ilemona is playing significant role in the patrol of those areas, as well as other security personnel.

Recalls that security forces on Sunday repelled bandits attack on Share, the headquarters of Ifelodun local government area of the state, also in Kwara South Senatorial District.

The attack was successfully repelled after about one hour of exchange of gunfire between the security forces and the armed bandits, though no casualties or abduction were reported.
