In Edo State, gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have allegedly killed a civil servant and farmer identified as Inofomoh Gabriel. The tragic incident occurred in the Jattu community, which serves as the headquarters of the Uzairue clan in Etsako West Local Government area.

According to reports from Punch, Gabriel, who was a staff member of Auchi Polytechnic, went to his farm on Wednesday, March 27, but failed to return home. Concerned about his absence, a search team was organized to comb the bush for the missing farmer. Unfortunately, his lifeless body was discovered on Saturday, March 30, 2024, with machete cuts covering his body.

A source within the community revealed that suspicions point towards herdsmen, who have been known to kidnap farmers in the area, and in some instances, have resorted to killing their victims. The matter has been reported to the Jattu Police Division, although an official statement from the station has yet to be released.

The number of beneficiaries enjoying Pioneer Status under the Industrial Development Income Tax Act increased by 24 from 83 in the first quarter of 2023 to 107 by the fourth quarter of the same year, according to reports from the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission. While 79 firms submitted new requests, 211 are still pending, and 56 companies had their applications approved in principle.

Over the past two weeks, the Central Bank of Nigeria and other banking institutions have injected $2.5 billion into the foreign exchange market, leading to a strengthening of the Naira to N1,309 against the US dollar. Official data from the FMDQ Securities Exchange revealed this, indicating a slight improvement from the previous day’s rate of N1300/$1. Despite this increase, the Naira remains at its eight-week low against the US dollar, showing continued resilience.

Trading activities were suspended on Friday due to a public holiday. In addition, forex transactions at the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market surged by 106%, reaching $857 million, the highest level since the implementation of new forex policies by the Central Bank.

This recent surge in forex trading marks the largest turnover since 2021, with a close comparison being $760 million on June 2nd, 2022. The average daily turnover in March has been around $220 million, while the yearly average stands at $177 million.

Two weeks ago, the CBN conducted total sales of $1 billion. Forex trading data revealed that on Thursday, the intraday high closed at N1392 compared to N1,460 per dollar on Wednesday. Conversely, the intraday low appreciated to N1,250 on Thursday from N1,200 the previous day.

This label prevents the automatic filtering of content within those communities. Otherwise, all NSFW content on X Communities will be filtered by default.

These changes align with the earlier discoveries and suggest a shift towards openly allowing adult content, which has always existed on the platform. Studies show a significant presence of NSFW content on X, with sex workers and adult content bots being quite common. In fact, internal documents revealed that roughly 13% of all posts on the former Twitter platform contained such content.

The new “Adult Content” label is just one of many updates to X Communities. This update allows communities to avoid automatic filtering and cater specifically to adult content. The update was announced by an X engineer and endorsed by Elon Musk himself.

X sees Communities as a key growth driver, according to discussions between Musk and CEO Linda Yaccarino. While the platform experiences rapid growth in Communities, there’s room for improvement. New features are being rolled out, including the ability to integrate other X accounts into a Community feed. This allows, for example, a video game community to include feeds of prominent video game reviewers. Notably, plans for NSFW communities weren’t mentioned during these discussions.

A successful X Communities could potentially compete with forums like Reddit and provide training data for Musk’s AI chatbot Grok, which has exclusive access to X content.

Beyond the “Adult Content” label, X is introducing a variety of other features for Communities. These include a “Ban” button for reported posts, improved explanations for denied community access, temporary and permanent bans for spammers, sorting options for posts, a dedicated Media tab on Android, and various bug fixes.

The future roadmap for Communities looks promising, with features like exploring top content across all Communities, personalized recommendations on the “For You” tab, advanced analytics for moderators, the ability to pin multiple member posts, and audio chat rooms within Communities. The post also hints at a revamped user interface for posts and replies.
