The National Civil Society Council of Nigeria (NCSCN) has firmly denounced the growing calls for protest surrounding the reinstatement of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, urging civil society organizations (CSOs) to show restraint and allow due process to prevail.
Speaking at a press briefing held at the NCSCN headquarters in Abuja, the Council’s Executive Director, Amb. Blessing A. Akinlosotu, condemned what he described as an “unwarranted” protest campaign, stressing the importance of respecting the rule of law and safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s judicial and legislative institutions.
This appeal for calm comes in the wake of a recentFederal High Court ruling in Abuja, which upheld the Senate’s constitutional authority to discipline its members in the case involving Senator Natasha. The court also imposed a ₦5 million fine and ordered her to issue a public apology within seven days for contempt of court.
Akinlosotu expressed concerns over clandestine meetings and instigation of CSOs towards public protest before the judgment was delivered, stressing that such actions could destabilize the National Assembly and undermine its legislative duties.
“We condemn the unwarranted call for protest and urge CSOs to exercise restraint, allowing due process to take its full course,” Akinlosotu said. “We respectfully appeal to all well-meaning Nigerians and civil society actors to desist from further agitation until the legal process is concluded and the official judgment is publicly available for objective review.”
The NCSCN emphasized the vital roles of Civil Society, including strengthening democracy, protecting the rights of the marginalized, and promoting inclusive development. “We will not hesitate to sanction any member found to be involved in any activity that leads to unrest, violence, or destruction of lives and property,” Akinlosotu warned.
The NCSCN’s call for restraint aims to prioritize stability and allow the National Assembly to focus on its legislative duties for the benefit of all Nigerians and the nation.
The Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed deep pride in being chosen as the preferred political platform by influential leaders defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and other major parties.
Speaking to journalists in Yola, ADC leaders warmly welcomed the new members, describing their defection as a bold step toward building a unified, progressive force for the transformational change Nigerians are seeking ahead of the 2027 elections.
ADC Chairman in Adamawa State, Mr Shehu Yohanna, while addressing journalists, said, “We welcome members of the Nigeria national opposition coalition who have recently adopted the ADC as their political platform. The development is a testament to the party’s growing influence in the country.”
He added that new alignments are necessary for the growth of the polity, stressing, “We are honoured to have them join us. Together, we will work to build a stronger, more inclusive and more prosperous Adamawa State and Nigeria.”
The ADC chairman urged the new entrants and other members to respect the constitution and leadership of the party, as discipline is vital for attainment of a unified vision for progress
Dismissing insinuations of division within the ADC in Adamawa State, the party chairman affirmed, “We are one. There is no resignation or dissolution. The current leadership of the ADC in Adamawa State remains intact, no one has resigned and no structure has been dissolved.”
NLC President, Joe Ajaero, made the vow on Friday at the National Administrative Council, NAC, meeting of the Central Working Committee held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has vowed to resist any move by the National Assembly to transfer labour matters—including the minimum wage—from the exclusive legislative list of the Federal Government to the concurrent list, which would allow individual states to set their own wage standards.
NLC President, Joe Ajaero, made the vow on Friday at the National Administrative Council, NAC, meeting of the Central Working Committee held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Ajaero, who described the move as an exercise in futility, argued that the issue of minimum wage is treated globally as a national matter in line with International Labour Organisation, ILO, conventions, which regard member countries as entities, not sub-national units such as states.
According to him, the plan by the lawmakers was a calculated attempt to bastardise the national minimum wage structure and shift other labour-related responsibilities to the states, including the establishment of state industrial courts that would independently handle wage disputes, a move he said violates ILO principles.
“The National Assembly should not go into this exercise in futility unless members will also allow their respective states to determine their wages,” the labour leader said.
In a recent interview with British-Nigerian media personality Madame Joyce, the Sad Girls Love Money star expressed concern that the genre — and African music more broadly — is at risk of stagnation.
Amaarae argued that Afrobeats needs to evolve, noting that some artists have become so financially comfortable with a particular sound that they’re now hesitant to explore or experiment with new styles.
Amaarae said, “Afrobeats and African music need to evolve. It needs to evolve in a direction that is fearless, and I think right now artists have made so much money from a certain type of sound that they are afraid to step out of the boundaries because they are probably more focused on the financial aspect of it. And as a result, I think Afrobeats has stalled.
“One of my favourite albums last year was Rema’s ‘HEIS.’ That’s what I consider the evolution of Afrobeats. You see how it moved the genre and the culture forward, and you see how it moved his career forward.
“There have been a lot of people that have big hits that aren’t willing to push the boundaries of the music, and as a result, Afrobeats is in a bit of a rut. So, I think Africans need to get it together, get on up, and start to experiment. [African] music needs to evolve, and it needs to excite people again.”
Rapper and activist Folarin Falana, widely known by his stage name Falz, has shared his thoughts on what immediately comes to mind when he hears the name of Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking in an interview with Soundcity, the “Wehdone Sir” crooner said that the word “hardship” is the first thing that strikes him whenever President Tinubu’s name is mentioned, reflecting the ongoing struggles faced by many Nigerians.
The interviewer asked: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. What comes to your mind when you hear his name?”
Falz replied: “Hardship. No elaboration.”
Last month, Falz argued that Nigeria has retrograded under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In an interview with Arise TV, he stressed that not much progress has been made, adding that the President has the remaining two years of his tenure to prove himself.
Nigerian Railway Corporation to resume Kano–Minna train services before end of 2025
Nigerian Railway Corporation to resume Kano–Minna train services before end of 2025
In an attempt to revitalize rail transportation and stimulate economic activity throughout Northern Nigeria, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has declared plans to start train services again along the Kano–Minna line by the end of 2025.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), this was announced by NRC Managing Director Dr. Kayode Opeifa during an official visit to the corporation’s Northern District Office in Zaria on Friday.
Nigerian Railway Corporation to resume Kano–Minna train services before end of 2025
According to Opeifa, the company would use funds from the 2025 capital expenditure to revive important equipment in the area.
In order to resume shuttle operations along the Minna–Kaduna and Kaduna–Kano lines, he further disclosed that NRC is collaborating with the governments of Niger, Kano, and Kaduna states.
The Kano–Minna train services would be restored before the end of 2025, according to Dr. Kayode Opeifa, Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), in an effort to stimulate local economic activity.
Opeifa stated this during a formal visit to the Northern District Office in Zaria on Friday, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Nigerian Railway Corporation to resume Kano–Minna train services before end of 2025
According to the NAN article, “he stated that NRC would also repair the equipment in the Northern Regional District in order to reach the established goal, adding that the corporation was also planning to achieve such a target from the 2025 capital expenditure.”
The NRC MD underlined that the action is consistent with Nigeria’s new railway governance framework, which permits more state involvement because rail operations are now under the concurrent legislative list. He added that the NRC will work with the Kaduna State Government to revitalize Zaria’s railway hospital and assist law enforcement and the NSCDC in preventing damage to railway property.
The NAN report noted that the Regional District Manager for the North, Mr. Adewale Rasheed, described the Northern district as the largest in Nigeria by landmass and staff strength, yet largely inactive.
He stressed the urgent need to revive major routes, such as Lagos–Kano, Kano–Nguru, Kaduna–Minna, and Zaria–Kauran Namoda, to re-engage idle staff and restore full operations across the district.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the National Union of Railway Workers (NUR), Zaria branch, Mr. Aminu Abdullahi, raised concerns over unresolved staff welfare issues, including unpaid promotion arrears dating back to 2018 and prolonged stagnation in career advancement, especially among gangers. He also called on the NRC to address persistent concerns related to the Railway Property Company, which he said has been a source of frustration for staff.

Enviable feat for Enugu state as Keyamo to launch Enugu Air, July 7
Congratulations are in order for the Enugu state government as Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s minister of aviation and aerospace development, will formally launch Enugu Air, the state’s commercial airline operated by the Enugu State government, on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Akanu Ibiam International Airport was confirmed as the venue for the launch ceremony.
Based on their performance, passenger comfort, and appropriateness for regional routes, the airline will start operations with a fleet of three Embraer aircraft from the E170 and E190 series.
Just recently, in videos spread across social media, an Enugu Airline’s jet was spotted undergoing tests and runs as it successfully landed its first flight in the state’s airport.
Enugu state governor, Peter Mbah
Dr Obi Ozor, Enugu State’s Commissioner for Transportation, while commenting on the development, stated that Enugu Air is essential to Governor Peter Mbah’s plan to establish Enugu State as a significant aviation hub in Nigeria.
“With a strong foundation built on innovation and sustainability, Enugu Air is poised to transform regional air travel, boost state pride, and raise Enugu’s profile nationally and globally,” he said.
The local airline stated that Abuja and Lagos will be its first destinations, with ambitions to include Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, Kano, and other important Nigerian cities.
2027 Elections: President Tinubu's failure inevitable
Former Sports and Youth Development Minister Solomon Dalung has assured President Tinubu that his defeat in the upcoming 2027 election is inevitable, adding that even if his son Seyi Tinubu is named Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), his administration will still lose in 2027.
In an interview with New Central on Friday, Dalung claimed that the government of President Tinubu had weaponised poverty and declared war on Nigerians.
2027 Election: President Tinubu’s failure inevitable
The only way to save Nigeria, he said, is for opposition party leaders to join the newly formed alliance on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform and run against the APC government in the 2027 election.
He said, “Nigerians should buckle up for 2027 because the battle line has been drawn. The government of President Bola Tinubu has declared war against the Nigerian people. The government has weaponized poverty, hunger and hardship, and has popularised corruption, impunity and injustice.
Former minister of youth and sport development, Solomon Dalung
“The only option we have now is to align with the coalition movement, to reposition ourselves and confront the government in 2027.”
The former minister expressed his confidence that the president will lose the next general election, saying that his administration would still lose even if his family held positions that could affect the results of the 2027 election.
“Like I promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, even if the 36 state governors defect to the APC and he appoints his son, Seyi Tinubu as the chairman of INEC, and maybe he will appoint his wife, the chief justice of Nigeria and INEC will be the last institution to decamp, he will be defeated in 2027,” Dalung added.
Clout or courage? Meet Emmiwuks, fearless Nigerian cycling from Lagos to United States
Nigerian cylist, Emmanuel Myam, an indigene of Benue state also known as Emmiwuks, has embarked on yet another bold solo bicycle trip from Lagos to the United States of America (USA).
He stated that the journey was in order to be able to raise funds and awareness for IDPs and orphaned children in Nigeria and across Africa
It is approximately 5,327 miles (8,573 km) to ride a bicycle from Nigeria to the United States of America.
Emmiwuks had previously shared a bit about his passion for cycling and what led to his first adventure. Taking to his Instagram account, he had written,
“My name is Emmiwuks, a proud African boy from Benue State, Nigeria, now based in Lagos.
“In 2023, I survived a near-death experience due to appendicitis. That second chance changed my perspective forever.
“I started chasing my dreams, exploring the world and doing all I can to put smiles on faces wherever I go.
“After school, I came to Lagos with nothing but a dream.
“I worked as a crane motor boy, earning N15,000/month.
Nigerian cyclist, Emmiwuks
“I saved what I could and bought a broken bicycle – just the frame.
“With friends’ support, I fixed it and rode from Benue to Lagos in 15 days.
“In Abuja, I hosted a cycling road show with the Cycling Federation of Nigeria to promote cycling for health.
“It didn’t go as planned, but I didn’t give up.”
Since disclosing his intention to break this record and achieve the feat, netizens have expressed mixed reactions with some raising questions as to how Emmiwuks intends to make it across places like the Sahara Desert and African crisis areas on only just a bicycle.
Since the Atlantic Ocean prevents Nigeria and the US from having a continuous land link, is it safe to say this brave yet unclear journey is only a strategy by Emmiwuks to chase clout?
The cyclist revealed that he going to ship the bike across the Atlantic (e.g., to South America), then continue north through Central America.
The 25-year-old biker rose to prominence in 2022 after riding from Makurdi to Lagos to meet Davido, a well-known musician.
He clarified that his goal with this most recent journey is to increase awareness and assistance for displaced and orphaned children impacted by wars throughout Africa.
On Tuesday, Emmiwuks departed from the Lagos State University (LASU) gate to commence his adventure.
Different key factors, including weather conditions, safety risks, shipping logistics, navigating unstable regions, visa requirements and boarder infringement have been raised by concerned social media users as some of the many challenges he encounters on the said adventure.
Despite the odds, Emmiwuks via his verified x account announced that he had arrived Cotonou yesterday July 4 after only 5 days of beginning his bike ride to the US. He wrote, ” On a bicycle standing before the Amazon Statue in Cotonou. I had to pause and pay homage”
He emphasized that his choice of transportation is deeply symbolic.
He said, “This ride isn’t just about me. It’s about resilience, hope, and giving vulnerable kids a future.
“Every mile I pedal represents the strength these kids show every day,”
“Why a bicycle? Because it symbolizes the uphill battles they face and overcome.”
While some users have applauded Emmiwuks bravery and described it as courageous, others have simply mocked the challenge describing it a waste of time only aimed at chasing clout to get social media attention.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has dislcosed that advocates of the coalition seeking to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 will definitely fail.
The Lagos state governor urged President Tinubu to disregard the alliance that has been formed with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), one of the fringe political parties, adding that it is merely a distraction.
He claimed that Nigerians will back the president in order to guarantee that the benefits of his audacious reforms are fully implemented.
2027: APC South-South governors endorse Tinubu for 2nd term
Speaking with a group of journalists and politicians in Lagos, Governor Sanwo-Olu said, “Nigerians will never go back to Egypt.
The target is to distract the Commander-in-Chief and derail the social and economic gains that we can see and feel, but President Tinubu knows the game and will never fall for their bait”.
According to Sanwo-Olu, President Tinubu’s record, accomplishments, and reform plan are powerful enough to overcome any narrative that aims to undermine his administration or his chances of winning reelection.

Among other things, he mentioned the national minimum wage, tax reforms, the stability of the foreign currency market, the students loan program, large-scale infrastructure projects, higher revenue for states following the elimination of fuel subsidies, and increased oil output.
Sanwo-olu noted that the APC along with its supporters are not bothered about the ADC or any other Anti-Tinubu coalition.
Tinubu x Sanwo-Olu
“The President should stay the course. Millions of well-meaning Nigerians across party lines and compatriots, who understand what it takes to govern the most populous black nation on earth and revive a troubled economy, are behind him and trust his leadership.
“We know how far we’ve come under President Tinubu’s leadership. The focus should remain on delivering results, deepening reforms and building a stronger Nigeria. Any attempt to shake that foundation will be futile,” he added.
Lamido to support Peter Obi if he emerges coalition’s candidate
A former governor of Jigawa State and PDP chieftain has stated that he would be willing to back Mr. Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election if he were to become the coalition’s standard bearer.
This follows after the Middle Belt Forum stated that they might be forced to continue with Peter Obi because the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election has a history of honouring his word.
“If the coalition produces Peter Obi or anyone else committed to rescuing Nigeria, I will support them,” Lamido said in response to a query on whether he would back Obi, who has pledged to serve a single four-year term if he wins the 2027 presidential election.
The former Jigawa state governor added that despite his willingness to support Peter Obi, he still remains a member of the PDP. “We ought to have moved past regional and ethnic sentiments” he said.
Leadership should be about competence and vision, not geography. What has the North gained from producing the most presidents if the region remains underdeveloped? I’m open to any arrangement that can confront the APC and rescue Nigeria. I’ll support those who share that goal,” he further explained
Similarly, the Middle Belt Forum has also declared its support for Peter Obi, stating that because the North has few other options, they may continue to support Peter Obi and his pledge to serve one term if elected president of the nation in 2027 because of his reputation for keeping his word.
Dr. Bitrus Pogu, the National President of MBF, insisted that since any attempt to develop a candidate from the North may fail, the North would be forced to choose a candidate from the South that they could trust.
According to him, they might back Peter Obi because of his pledge or former President Goodluck Jonathan, if he is permitted, and because the law will allow him to serve one term.
Amaechi: Wike shares shocking revelation, gives 1 condition to resign as FCT Minister
Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in response to the ongoing banter between himself and former minister of transport has stated the only condition under which he would resign from his office as minister.
Wike promised to step down if former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi was not indicted in the forensic audit report on the Niger Delta Development Commission, or NDDC.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to make the forensic audit report on NDDC public.
Wike made this revelation on Friday during an appearance on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” show.
According to the FCT Minister, Amaechi was using his wife as a guise to receive N4 billion a month from NDDC in the name of training women from the Niger Delta.
Wike said: “Amaechi’s wife company, every month, got N4 billion to train Niger Delta women. That is N48 billion in one year alone, and the forensic audit report is there. Who killed it?
“Mr President should help Nigerians. You see, this is what I have always said. Mr President should help Nigerians. Please, release the forensic audit of the NDDC.
Six suspects have been taken into custody by Federal Capital Police Command officers in connection with the market killing that raised unrest at Gosa Market on Airport Road in Abuja.
The incident, which frightened residents of the area and traders, came after a guy who was suspected of stealing yam tubers died.
Due to the Abuja market killing, a lot of people have stopped going to the market, which is thought to be among the most reasonably priced places in Abuja to buy food.
During a press conference in Abuja, Commissioner of Police Adewale Ajao stated that the police quickly entered the area to calm emotions and return things to normal after the market killing.
He said, “A young man was accused of stealing some tubers of yam at the market. And lo and behold, an individual decided to take the law into his hands. That’s a complete human being. This is what led to the crisis.
Police arrest 6 over Abuja market killing
“Following the police swiftly moved into the area to douse tensions and restore normalcy. Six suspects are currently in custody over the matter, which the police are treating as a clear case of murder.”
He further stated that the police had a dialogue with traditional elders and community leaders, which helped to defuse the situation.
Ajao stated that in an attempt to combat robbery, 17 individuals were apprehended in five armed robbery incidents, while six more were apprehended in relation to robberies that were thwarted in Apo and Kubwa.
In a sharply candid message to Amazon’s global workforce, CEO Andy Jassy has once again confirmed that the relentless advance of artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to reshape the company’s labour structure—moving away from traditional corporate roles toward an AI-led future.
During a recent interview with CNBC, Jassy clarified that, as AI systems take over routine corporate functions, “there will be fewer people doing some of the jobs that the technology actually starts to automate.” This follows a June 17 internal memo sent to Amazon’s 1.5 million employees in which Jassy forecasted a leaner corporate workforce within the next few years.
Table of Contents
A Deep Dive into Jassy’s Warning
In his internal memo, Jassy delineated a two-pronged transformation:
Automation of Routine Tasks AI agents and generative systems will increasingly handle repetitive responsibilities—coding, analytics, research—traditionally performed by humans.
Role Reconfiguration & Workforce Reduction Certain job categories will become obsolete, while others will emerge to support AI-driven initiatives. This shift will reduce Amazon’s total headcount in corporate functions as efficiency rises.
He emphasized that employees must adapt—whether through upskilling or transitioning to new roles—to stay relevant in the evolving organizational landscape .
The Scale of Change: Layoffs & Automation
Amazon is no stranger to workforce reductions. Since 2022, over 27,000 roles have been cut across retail, devices, and communications teams. These reductions have continued into 2025—with recent layoffs impacting the Books division, Kindle, Goodreads, podcast services, and more, each move aimed at removing management layers and streamlining operations.
The driving force? A deliberate AI-first approach is intended to eliminate excess bureaucracy and lower costs. As Jassy observed: “AI will free employees from rote work,” enabling a more agile, innovation-driven workforce.
The Role of AI in Day‑to‑Day Operations
Amazon is rapidly integrating AI across its ecosystem: over 1,000 generative AI tools are already in use—from Alexa+ enhancements to intelligent shopping features. Notably, AI coding assistants have shaved off the equivalent of 4,500 programmer years by expediting software updates.
On the logistics side, robotics plays a pivotal role: Amazon recently deployed its millionth robot in a Japanese fulfilment centre, with automation supporting more than 75% of the company’s global delivery. This trend is expected to proliferate throughout the organisation.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy Reaffirms Dire AI-Driven Job Outlook: Corporate Roles to Shrink
Internal Reaction: A Workforce on Edge
Jassy’s reminders have not fallen on deaf ears. Internal backlash has been notable, with employees taking to Slack and other internal channels to voice their anxiety and frustration. In one sarcastic comment, a staffer wrote: “Nothing more motivating on a Tuesday than reading that your job will be replaced by AI in a few years.”
Such sentiment underscores broader industry tension: while many view AI as a tool for growth, corporate employees are already feeling the heat of structural upheaval.
Industry Context: Amazon Follows Broader Tech Trends
Amazon’s workforce strategy is part of a larger phenomenon. In the first half of 2025 alone, tech giants like Intel, Microsoft, Google, Meta, and others collectively eliminated over 62,000 jobs. These cuts reflect a collective push toward operational efficiency, AI adoption, and tighter cost controls.
Meta eliminated roughly 5% of its workforce; Google and Microsoft followed similar trends. Amazon’s ongoing reductions—affecting devices/services, communications, and content divisions—align directly with this broader restructuring.
What Jassy Expects of Employees
Jassy has issued a clear call to action: adapt, evolve, or move on. His message has consistently emphasized:
Adaptability: Embrace new roles, learn AI-related skills, and pivot away from repetitive tasks.
Innovation: With AI absorbing the mundane, employees should focus on creative, strategic work.
Ownership: Those unable or unwilling to transition should consider other paths—either within new Amazon teams or beyond.
Jassy’s message leverages Amazon’s “Leadership Principles”—ownership, bias for action, and inventiveness—as the cornerstone of this automation age.
Implications for the Workforce & Job Market
The ripple effects of Amazon’s automated future are multifaceted:
Reskilling Imperative Employees must pivot to roles in AI oversight, prompt design, machine learning, data science, and digital product leadership.
Corporate Culture Shift Routine tasks—coding upgrades, data manipulation—will decline. Instead, strategic thinking and innovation-focused collaboration will take centre stage.
Pressure on Job Security Employees tied to legacy systems—marketing analytics, middle management—face heightened risk as AI grows more capable digitally.
Talent Landscape Volatility As mid-tier roles diminish, demand will surge for high-skill specialities and adaptable talent versed in AI collaboration.
Jassy’s Take: Not All Doom and Gloom
Despite the stark tone, Jassy sees promise:
He frames AI as a liberator: “make all our jobs more interesting,” he said, while enabling teams to “focus on innovation and higher-value tasks.”
He advocates a renaissance of workplace purpose: with AI managing the mundane, employees can concentrate on designing products, crafting strategies, and driving customer value.
It’s a narrative hearkening back to the AI promise: automate the routine, empower the creative.
What’s Next: The Roadmap Ahead
Timeline: The transformation is already underway, with workforce reductions scheduled over the next few years. Expect accelerated AI deployment across software, marketing, logistics, and support.
Employee Strategy: Amazon’s HR and L&D teams are launching retraining programmes to equip staff with AI fluency and digital leadership skills. The onus, however, falls on individuals to capitalize on these resources.
Industry Response: As Amazon charts this transformation, peers in tech and retail are expected to match or exceed these changes, raising the bar on AI deployment and workforce evolution.
Expert View: A Turning Point in Work Culture
AI expert Dr. Sara Liu from Stanford notes: “Amazon’s strategy reflects the broader shift—AI won’t just automate tasks, it will redefine roles. Workers who pivot now have a real opportunity to become unicorns in the AI workplace; those who don’t may find themselves outpaced.”
This underscores a central truth: resilience and adaptability will define who thrives in tomorrow’s job market.
Summary: The Future of Work at Amazon
Theme
Summary
Automation Surge
AI and bots replace routine corporate work.
Job Transformation
Fewer routine roles; more high-value, strategic positions.
Employee Challenge
Adapt genes are now mandatory.
Organizational Shift
Corporate structure is slimming to align with new AI-native workflows.
Final Take
Andy Jassy’s message is clear: Amazon is entering a new era. One where algorithms handle the mundane, empowering humans to push innovation. It is an evolutionary leap—not a callous corporate cutback. Success in this environment demands agility, digital fluency, and a willingness to reinvent one’s role.
Amazon’s AI-driven future isn’t optional—it’s imminent. As employees brace for change, the wider tech industry watches closely. The firm that harnesses automation without sacrificing human ingenuity wins.
Nigerians have continued to react to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) crisis and impending demise.
This comes after the party’s big guns, including former Senate President David Mark, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and other former governors, exited the party.
The PDP members, led by Atiku Abubakar, urged all well-meaning party members and other patriotic Nigerians to join the coalition at a meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
Former Senate President David Mark, former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, and other prominent PDP figures are among those under Atiku’s leadership.
Their decision to quit the PDP was reached during a closed-door meeting of Concerned Leaders on Tuesday July , although it had been rumoured for some time.
Following the PDP’s National Executive Committee meeting on Monday, Umar Damagum, the party’s acting National Chairman, announced that Samuel Anyanwu had been confirmed as the party’s national secretary by the NEC.
Atiku Abubakar
Anyanwu’s endorsement, he added, was one of the major resolutions made during the NEC meeting, which is still the party’s highest decision-making body.
Several party heavyweights who attended the NEC meeting, including former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki and Adolphus Wabara as well as former BoT chief Bode George, expressed confidence that the party had at last reclaimed itself.
Former Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi), among with other high-ranking officials, have also left the PDP with Atiku Abubakar.
Political analyst Dr. Sani Abubakar while speaking on the issue told newsmen that it was long overdue for the politicians to quit the party for the Minister of the Federal Capital, or FCT, who he accused of being the cause of the issue. He also discussed what Atiku’s decision to dump the PDP portends for the party.
