Two of the three laboratories approved by a Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, have declined to carry out paternity tests on Liam, the alleged son of late singer Mohbad.

The development comes amid the ongoing dispute between Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and his widow, Wunmi.
It was earlier reported that the court had, three weeks ago, approved three laboratories in the United States and the United Kingdom to conduct the DNA test.
While the court selected Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited in London, Wunmi chose Alpha Bio Labs in Warrington, UK, and Mohbad’s father opted for DNA Diagnostics Centre in Fairfield, Ohio, USA.
However, in a statement issued on Thursday, counsel to Joseph Aloba, Oladayo Ogungbe, revealed that the two laboratories chosen by the court and Wunmi have indicated they do not conduct post-mortem DNA tests involving embalmed bodies.

He explained that both Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited and Alpha Bio Labs communicated this after preliminary inquiries were made to confirm their capacity to handle such tests.
Mohbad died under unclear circumstances in September 2023 and was buried the following day. His body was later exhumed after seven days following widespread public outcry.
Amid the controversy surrounding his death, his father has insisted on a DNA test to determine the paternity of the child.
