Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has shared her thoughts on the importance of financial stability in relationships and marriage.
The movie star explained that she does not believe marrying a financially poor partner can lead to a fulfilling or “fantastic” married life. Speaking on a recent episode of the Tea With Tay podcast, she noted that financial strain can affect the peace and joy couples are meant to enjoy in marriage.
According to her, “Marriage is not a poverty alleviation scheme,” adding that constant financial struggles such as unpaid rent, inability to pay school fees, and lack of basic needs can make it difficult for couples to truly enjoy their home.
She further clarified that she is not suggesting love cannot exist without money, but emphasized that love and a comfortable life are not the same thing.
Nancy Isime also advised that intending couples should aim to be reasonably financially stable before getting married and starting a family, in order to reduce avoidable pressure in the home.
