The development followed the resurfacing of some of Simi’s old posts on X, which began circulating online amid rape allegations raised by a TikTok user identified as Mirabel.
The singer had previously spoken out about what she described as a growing culture of sexual assault in the country, stating that many women she knows have experienced sexual abuse. She also suggested strict punishment for offenders, a stance that sparked online debate and exchanges of differing opinions.
Amid the controversy, past tweets referencing children at her mother’s daycare resurfaced, with some social media users alleging that they implied inappropriate conduct.

In response to calls from concerned Nigerians, the Federal Government, through the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), reaffirmed its commitment to investigating all credible allegations of child sexual abuse and misconduct.
In a post on its official X handle, NAPTIP urged individuals with verified information or victims seeking help to come forward confidentially.
“If you have factual information, evidence, or were directly affected, please reach out confidentially via DM or email info@naptip.gov.ng.”
