The Super Eagles of Nigeria have just clinched 3rd place in the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after beating the Pharaohs of Egypt on a 4-2 penalty shootout.

The match, which was played at the Stade Mohamed V, saw Akor Adams’s goal disallowed after a VAR review in the 38th minute of the first half, and afterwards, Paul Onuachu got a yellow card for an elbow on an Egyptian defender in the process.

Both teams made several attempts to get the goal, but Egypt, having more ball possession, couldn’t put it to good use.
