Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, emphasises that he has maintained his stance prior to, during, and during the 2023 presidential election and that he has no regrets about publicly endorsing President Bola Tinubu since 2022.
According to a statement released on Saturday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant (Public Communications and Social Media), the Wike, who spoke at a special event held to commemorate his 58th birthday anniversary, stated that he never hid his support for President Tinubu from the beginning and that his political decisions are guided by the principles of character and integrity.
He recalled that he was the only prominent member of the main opposition party to publicly endorse President Tinubu in the run-up to the 2023 presidential election. He claimed that this choice was motivated by equity, justice, and fairness as well as his belief that power ought to move to the South.
Wike went on to say that the elections in Rivers State, where the PDP won the National Assembly, governorship, State House of Assembly, and local government elections while the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the presidential poll, showed his leadership abilities.
Leaders from all political backgrounds came together to honour the accomplishments and political influence of the former governor of Rivers State and current minister of the Federal Capital Territory at the birthday celebration, which took place early on Saturday morning at Wike’s Abuja home.
Rivers State politicians from the National Assembly, both current and former, members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, presided over by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, local government chairmen, close friends, and political allies were there.
Speakers alternately praised the Minister’s qualities, calling him an accomplished and savvy politician whose influence can be seen throughout the nation, encouraging him to persevere, and reassuring him of their unwavering support.
