“The minister also advocated for the extension of national service from one to two years, with the expansion of NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Training programme content for corps members,” the statement read.

The minister also emphasized that more graduate teachers should be sent to rural schools to help with the labor shortage there.

He praised the NYSC management’s proactive and digitalized mobilization efforts to stop some foreign-trained graduates in West Africa from engaging in certificate racketeering.

Alausa also commended the plan to address the long-standing problem of OND part-time graduates who had previously been excused from National Service and had full-time HNDs.

Earlier in his remarks, NYSC Director General Brig-Gen. Nafiu praised the ministry’s creativity and enormous advancements in the field of education.

He advocated for the creation of a database for Nigerian youths pursuing degree programs overseas, saying that this would assist the government and other education sector stakeholders in identifying fraudulent graduates.
