Lewis Chinemerem Obianyi, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Ukwa East constituency, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP).
The lawmaker made the announcement on Tuesday during the House plenary session, formally resigning from the PDP and declaring his new allegiance to the Labour Party.
Obianyi is regarded as one of the most outspoken lawmakers in the Abia State House of Assembly, in addition to the number of bills he sponsored.
A close associate of the lawmaker, who spoke on the development on Tuesday, said the crises rocking the PDP was one of the reasons that influenced the defection.
