Journalists who visited the secretariat at Zone 5 on Monday observed that renovation activities were ongoing, even as staff had yet to resume work.

The development follows the recent unsealing of the facility by the police, which allowed access to the Wike-aligned faction of the party.

Barricades previously placed around the main building have now been removed, although a few police vehicles and security personnel remain stationed at the premises.

A party member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the renovation commenced on Sunday by Nyesom Wike.

According to the source, the work includes repainting the building, replacing air conditioning units, changing locks and keys, and reallocating office spaces to members of the new NWC.

The source also noted that some staff members believed to be loyal to the Tanimu Turaki-led faction may face challenges returning to work at the secretariat.

As of the time of filing this report, no party officials had resumed duties at the complex.

It will be recalled that the faction’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, had earlier announced in Abuja the reopening of the PDP national secretariat as well as the party’s presidential campaign office, Legacy House, located in Maitama.
