A group claiming ownership of the Obidient Movement said it had dissolved the movement, expelled Peter Obi, Yunusa Tanko, and others linked to what it called an unauthorised leadership structure, and begun a reorganisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group said it took the action over what it described as political prostitution and the use of the movement for private gain.
It also renamed itself the #OBEDIENT Movement to distance itself from Obi and his supporters.

Since the announcement, several calls, SMS and WhatsApp messages have been to Peter Obi and Yunusa, but were however not replied.
Dr. Barry Avotu Johnson, the International Coordinator of the #OBEDIENT Movement, explained at a press conference in Abuja to introduce the organization that it has stopped working with the Labour Party and has not yet chosen a presidential candidate for 2027.
He further claimed that the #Obidient Movement’s initial vision and foundational principles were no longer being sufficiently represented by individuals who took over its structure following the 2023 elections, which is why the rebranding was required.
He said, “Today, we have come to inform the world that the original founders and custodians of the true Obedient Movement Worldwide have resolved to reclaim the movement and return it to the people.
“Effective immediately, the movement is entering a new era of rebranding, restructuring, reconciliation, and renewed vision ahead of the 2027 general elections. From this day forward, the world should take note that a New Obedient Movement Worldwide Agenda has begun.”
BACKSTORY…
Meanwhile, this comes barely two weeks after supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso agreed to collaborate under a new platform known as the OK Movement.

Additionally, the OK movement emphasized that rebuilding the nation requires collective effort, not the responsibility of any single ethnic group.
