Nine properties connected to Timipre Sylva, the former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, have been temporarily forfeited to the Federal Government by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the ruling.
Although Justice Egwuatu delivered the decision on April 24, the News Agency of Nigeria reported that the enrolled order surfaced on Wednesday, May 6.
Meanwhile, the affected properties are located across high-value areas of Abuja.
The properties include a duplex at Villa 1, Unit 1, Palm Springs Estate, Mpape; four terrace blocks in Dakibiyu; a duplex with a penthouse and office complex at No. 3, Niger Street, MStreet; and a 10-unit apartment block at No. 8, Sefadu Street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.
The list also includes a duplex at No. 18, Nile Lake, Plot 1271, Maitama, Abuja; two apartment blocks containing 12 units at Plot 1181, Thaba Tseka Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja; and a six-unit apartment block at No. 1, Mubi Close, Garki, Abuja.
The National Information Technology Development Agency presently occupies the ninth property, a two-block structure at No. 5, Aguta Street, Garki, Abuja.
The judge said: “It is hereby ordered as follows: An interim order of this honourable court is made forfeiting the properties listed in the schedule attached herein, being properties suspected to be proceeds of some unlawful activities pending the publication and hearing of the motion on notice for final forfeiture order of the said properties.
Following this, he adjourned the matter until May 25 for a report of compliance.
BACKSTORY…
This comes just months after the EFCC declared the former Bayelsa State governor wanted in November 2025.
Meanwhile, military personnel previously raided Sylva’s residences in Abuja and Bayelsa in October and detained his brother over allegations linking the former governor to a failed attempt to overthrow the Bola Tinubu administration.
