Controversial social media commentator, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has urged Nigerians to remain neutral in the ongoing dispute between music star Peter Okoye and his elder brother, Jude Okoye.
Speaking during a live session shared online, VDM criticised the public reaction to the feud, stating that many Nigerians were supporting Peter based on emotions without hearing from all the parties involved.
According to him, taking sides without understanding the full details of the disagreement could lead to unfair judgments.
“Nigerians are so emotional. This is why Mohbad will never get justice. Everybody is supporting Peter, but they have yet to hear from Paul and Jude,” he said.
VDM stressed that Nigerians should avoid forming conclusions based on one person’s account, adding that both Jude and Paul Okoye should be given the opportunity to share their perspectives before the public makes a final judgment.
His comments have generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing that all sides of the dispute should be heard, while others maintained that Peter’s claims deserve attention.
The remarks come amid renewed public interest in the long-running rift within the Okoye family following the release of Mr P’s “Unveiling” episode 8, which revisited issues surrounding the collapse of the P-Square group.
BACKSTORY:
The controversy surrounding the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) emerged after reports that an individual, identified as Mr Adeyemi, allegedly operated a non-existent government agency using forged documents, including a purported presidential appointment letter.
The suspect was accused of presenting himself as the Director General of the supposed council, gaining access to government offices and conducting activities linked to the fake organisation. The development prompted an investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which reportedly found cases of negligence among some public officials who allowed the alleged scheme to operate.
The Presidency had relied on the ICPC’s interim findings as part of its response to the allegations, but opposition figures, including African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, argued that the report did not completely clear the government.
Atiku insisted that the focus should not only be on the alleged impersonator but also on the government officials and systems that enabled the fake agency to function. He has called for a wider investigation, the release of the full ICPC report and a public hearing by the National Assembly.
