Several Nigerian celebrities have rallied behind Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P and one half of the defunct music duo, P-Square, following comments made by his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, about his music career.
Reports revealed that Jude, while responding to allegations made by Peter, claimed that Paul Okoye’s career has continued to rise while Peter’s career has declined since the group split.
“Paul is going up there, you dey go down,” Jude told Peter.
The statement sparked reactions from Nigerians, especially celebrities, who criticised Jude’s comment and showed support for Peter, describing the remark as unfair and discouraging.
Actress Evans Okoro, in an Instagram video, called on Nigerians to support Peter and help promote his music.
“Nigerians, una know say we no dey use ear hear say person dey bully person or person won make person go down,” she said.
She urged fans to stream Peter’s new song on YouTube, adding that personal family issues should not stop people from supporting him.
“Nothing concerns us with the family problems but we must carry our brother up. Go and stream his new song on YouTube. Please let’s help Peter P-Square,” she added.
Actress Destiny Etiko also supported the campaign, stating that Peter’s song needed more streams. She shared a post featuring his latest track, “I Can’t Look Away,” playing in the background.
Meanwhile, influencer Eseoghene Obire, popularly known as Xxssive, criticised Jude Okoye’s comments, comparing his actions to the biblical Judas.
He also stated that Jude should appreciate having a calm and kind-hearted younger brother, warning that the situation could have turned out differently with another personality.
Popular comedian and actor Deacon Famous also reacted to the controversy, describing P-Square’s management structure as faulty.
He alleged that Jude’s role as manager gave him excessive control over the group’s affairs and contributed to the problems between the brothers.
Other celebrities who have expressed support for Peter Okoye include singer Auta Waziri, Cynthia Morgan, Radiogad, Oil Money, Nkechi Blessing, among others.
Peter Okoye, professionally known as Mr. P, separated from P-Square after accusing his twin brother, Paul Okoye, and Jude Okoye of allegedly diverting music royalties.
The dispute between the brothers intensified after Jude Okoye was arrested and charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in February 2025.
