Fabiyi Oladimeji, Deputy National Financial Secretary of the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has dismissed the prospects of a presidential ticket pairing Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

According to Oladimeji, only a joint ticket involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi would provide the ADC with the electoral strength needed to succeed in the 2027 elections.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, he argued that voting patterns from the 2023 general election suggest that an Obi–Kwankwaso alliance would not generate enough support to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“An alliance between Kwankwaso and Obi will not deliver the required numbers, in my view. The most viable combination is Atiku and Obi,” he said.

He added that the combined votes secured by the three politicians in the last election were significantly higher than those obtained by the current president, suggesting that a united front could alter the political landscape.

Oladimeji also noted that Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi have both indicated willingness to support whichever candidate emerges, expressing hope that Peter Obi would make a similar commitment.

“This effort goes beyond individual ambition; it is about building a coalition capable of addressing the country’s challenges,” he stated.
