A senatorial aspirant for Ekiti North Senatorial District, Oluwadare Owolabi, has called for the cancellation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election held on Monday, May 18, 2026, alleging widespread irregularities and violence during the exercise.
Oluwadare Owolabi made the demand while speaking with journalists shortly after the primaries conducted across Ikole, Oye, Moba, Ilejemeje, and Ido-Osi Local Government Areas of Ekiti State.
He argued that the process did not meet democratic standards and should not be considered a credible election.
According to him, there was no proper accreditation of voters, and the ballot counting process was not properly carried out.

He further alleged that officials deployed to supervise the exercise were government employees, which he said compromised the neutrality of the election.
Oliuwadare Owolabi also accused organizers of causing deliberate disruptions at the venue, claiming it created panic among party members and supporters.
He described the situation as chaotic, stating that attendees fled for safety when tension escalated, and insisted that the exercise amounted to what he termed an attack on democratic principles.
The aspirant rejected the results announced after the primaries, insisting that the figures attributed to him did not reflect the actual votes cast by his supporters.
While official results reportedly gave him about 2,800 votes, he claimed that records from his supporters showed he actually secured about 4,341 votes.
Oluwadare Owolabi therefore demanded the immediate cancellation of the primary election and called for a fresh, transparent exercise to be conducted in its place.
