A popular Anambra fish farmer, Martins Ifesinachi Onyekere widely known as Fish Magnett, a son of the APGA Chieftain in the state has been found lifeless by his relatives and family members in the Akwa area of the state.
It was gathered that the Anambra fish farmer was abducted from his residence in Ezinifite community, Okpuno, and a ransom was demanded from his family. It was also learnt that the gunmen shot the victim in the leg before successfully taking him away.
According to reports obtained by our correspondents, the Anambra fish farmer allegedly transferred the sum of N3,000.000 to his abductors after which his mother paid another twenty million naira.

A source said, “The attackers arrived in an ash-coloured Lexus SUV at about 10:30pm, forced their way into the compound, and fled the scene in the victim’s navy blue Toyota Corolla after shooting him on his leg”
“He was in captivity for three days until a ransom was paid, but instead of setting him free, they ended his life. He was later found lifeless by the roadside this morning. He was young, hardworking, full of promise, known for his passion and thriving fish business”, the source said.
In a social media video, VDM disclosed the death of the Anambra fish farmer . VDM was seen fighting hard to hold back tears. He described Martins as an entrepreneur who was dedicated to his craft. VDM further revealed that the Anambra seller had reached out to him and offered to send him some fishes in appreciation for all his good deed and being the voice of the masses.

Unfortunately, he was unable to deliver the fishes and was later found dead after the demanded ransom had already been paid. Friends and well wishers of the Anambra fish farmer have since been devastated.
Friends and sources privy to the incident have alleged that Martins was killed by jealous competitors .
Another source reacting to the news of the tragic abduction of the Anambra fish farmer wrote,
“Martin onyekere known as Fish Magnet. Who happens to be the only son of his parents.
A great hustler. This guy owns a fish pond in Awka (Anambra State).
He is well known on black app because of his consistency and dedication to his fish business. I use to follow him then… When I was active on the black app.
Only to hear that he was kidnapped. Despite all the Money they spent.
News have it that he transferred 3 million to the people that kidnapped him, his Mum also raised 20 million which is totally of 23 million naira.
The kidnappers called his family to come and carry their son, only for them to meet his corpse.💔😥

Following this, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday after being approached about it. He also mentioned that joint security personnel had found the victim’s car, which the attackers had used to flee the scene.
Ikenga said, “The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed all tactical and intelligence units to redouble their efforts in tracking down the armed men responsible for the abduction and subsequent killing of Ifesinachi Onyekere, the Managing Director of Fish Magnet Outlet, who was attacked in the evening of July 27, 2025, at his residence in Ezinifite village, Okpuno, Awka.
“This directive follows the recovery of the victim’s navy blue Toyota Corolla, along Ukwulu/Igbariam road by the Joint Security Team comprising of Anambra Vigilante
Operatives and the Police.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the assailants had trailed the victim before launching the violent attack, during which the deceased was shot in the leg and forcibly taken away.
“He was later found lifeless, sparking public outrage and deep concern among residents of Awka.”
The state police command further assured the public that justice will be served.
