On Friday night, a fire outbreak was witnessed at Christ Apostolic Church in Wisdom Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State. It was reported that there was an ongoing night vigil prayer session and several people were trapped inside the building.
Oyo State Fire Services were on the scene to quench the fire, but there are no known reports on what started or caused the fire.
However, there are no known reports of the casualties from the incident between 9 and 10 p.m.
Several eyewitness reports state that some people were fast asleep when the fire started, and even when they woke up, there was panic, and this could lead to the loss of lives.
One eyewitness said, “An elderly woman who could barely walk was still inside the church when the fire was raging.”
All efforts from NaijaEyes to get through to Akinyemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, proved abortive.
