Dangote Industries Limited has completely refuted claims that it is the owner of the truck that was involved in Wednesday’s fatal collision in Enugu.
According to reports, the collision, which occurred at approximately nine in the morning, included a Toyota Corolla and a Howo truck that was carrying cement.
At the time the disaster happened, the vehicle was en route to Abuja from Aba to Abuja and was engraved with the name Visco Investment Global Limited.

Online reports claimed that the truck’s brand signature indicated it belonged to the Dangote Group, a claim the firm has since denied.
“We are engaging with the appropriate agencies to find out why the truck was carrying our logo when it is not part of our fleet.
“Going forward, we will apply more scrutiny to the unauthorised use of our brand identity, especially the misuse of our logo on vehicles not linked to the Group,” the company stated.
The company stated that although it is not typical to commenting on specific cases, false allegation had forced them to do so.
“Ordinarily, it is our policy not to comment on individual cases, but the spread of misinformation linking these incidents to the Dangote Group without evidence has compelled us to respond.
“We call on the public and the media to avoid spreading unverified claims,” the statement partly read.
The Dangote Group also insisted that it is still dedicated to the greatest levels of ethics, safety, and corporate responsibility.

Recall that trucks with the Dangote logo have been frequently associated to traffic accidents nationwide in recent years, which has fueled social media reaction and public outrage.
The most recent case being Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Ijeoma “Phyna” Otabor, who was hit by a truck associated with the Dangote Group at Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State and later died after having her leg amputated.
Many Nigerians, who frequently blame the corporation for failing to control irresponsible drivers, have demanded tougher regulations for the heavy-duty vehicles it owns.
