On Tuesday, demonstrators urged Delta State Police Command and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to take immediate action to stop the ongoing kidnappings and suspicious disappearances of children in the state’s Agbarho town.
The unpleasant trend was denounced by the hundreds of demonstrators who stopped major routes including the well-known Five Junction.
For several hours, businesses and offices were locked, and they blocked main roads and stopped cars from moving.

The demonstrators promised to keep up the demonstration until the missing children were freed from their captors. They also overran the Agbarho police station and the palace of the Osuvie (king) of Agbarho Kingdom.
The residents claimed that the incident was causing parents to become more anxious and concerned about their safety.
The demonstration came as reports surfaced that several children had been kidnapped in the past year, including a child of a prominent community figure on Monday.

Aghogho Imoni, one of the demonstrators, claimed that some of the missing victims have not yet been located and accused the town’s security services of merely lip service to the ongoing disappearances of youngsters in different parts of the city.
He said that after they departed for school on Monday, some kids including one of the community leaders’ children were reported missing.
Recall how four months ago, His Royal Majesty Sampson Ogugu I, the Osuvie of Agbarho Kingdom, ordered that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in command of Agbarho Divisional Police headquarters be fired due to the town’s recent insecurity.
When reached, Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Delta command, confirmed the demonstration.
