A seven-year-old girl identified as Saratu Lawal was killed in Akure, Ondo State, by a car in the convoy of President Tinubu’s wife, Oluremi Tinubu according to an exclusive report from SaharaReporters.

According to sources, several eye witnesses confirmed that as the president’s wife was traveling from the airport to the event location, a butter-colored hilux in the First Lady’s convoy bumped Saratu around Oba Ile, eventually killing her.
Following this, the Ondo State Police Command has denied claims that the 7 year old girl was not killed by a car in the convoy of the first lady.
In a statement he released after the incident, the police spokesperson stated that the car in the collision was not part of the First Lady’s convoy.
In his statement, the police spokesperson claimed that the incident was caused by a hit-and-run driver driving an unregistered white Lexus car, not by any vehicle that was part of or connected to the First Lady’s convoy, based on eyewitness reports and initial investigations by the Command.
The police spokesperson said, “A witness who observed the hit-and-run pursued the fleeing vehicle on a motorcycle immediately after the incident, which occurred around the Oba Ile area of Akure,”
“These accounts have been corroborated by several individuals at the scene as well as by the parents of the deceased.”
“At no point was the First Lady’s convoy involved in this tragedy,” the police spokesperson claimed.

When approached, the deceased’s father, Malam Lawali, a trader at Oba Ile market, stated that he had “given everything to God.”
Despite the conflicting accounts from eye witnesses and the Ondo state Police command, the office of the First lady is yet to issue any official statement addressing the incident.
