2025 UTME: Student who scored 339 reveals dream course
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has admitted to faults which influenced the performance of students during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The Registrar of the Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede admitted to this at an ongoing news briefing in Abuja, revealing that about 379,997 candidates in the just concluded 2025 UTME would retake the examination.

“What should have been a moment of joy has changed due to one or two errors,” Oloyede said.

According to the registrar, “we set all machineries in order, regardless, there were still errors.”

Recall that report and analysis provided by JAMB, a total of 1,955,069 results were processed, and only 4,756 candidates (0.24 percent) scored 320 and above, which is regarded as top-tier performance. Another 7,658 candidates (0.39 percent) scored between 300 and 319, making 12,414 candidates (0.63 percent) who scored 300 and above.

Following this, major concerns were raised over the mass failure and poor performance across board. Parents of candidate also expressing their displeasure adding that there were widespread glitches and technical issues during the examinations. As a result, revealed on Wednesday that a review would be conducted on the 2025 UTME results.

JAMB had committed to implementing the necessary corrective actions as soon as any issues were found.

Seventy-eight percent of candidates received less than 200 of the 400 possible points in the 2025 UTME results.

Prof. Oloyede, who fought back tears and blotting his face with a handkerchief every now and then, said he accepted full responsibility for the staff’s carelessness and announced that 92 centres in the Owerri Zone and 65 centres in Lagos, which serve the five South East states, would retake the test.
