Depression is real! woman narrowly rescued after suicide attempt in Lagos

A young lady yet to be identified has been rescued after an attempt to commit suicide by jumping off the third mainland bridge in Lagos.

In a video clip now circulating social media, was sighted while making the horrifying jump off the side of the third mainland bridge, straight into the lagoon underneath.

The video clip recorded the lady struggling ad fighting for her life after landing in the lagoon, attracting the attention of local fishermen nearby who quickly came to her rescue.

An X user took to his page with the handle @Teeniiola to post the video of the lady attempting suicide.

This marks yet another attempt in the sequence of suicide attempts on the third mainland bridge

Earlier in March, a lady who had also attempted suicide by jumping off the third mainland bridge was later found.

David Hundeyin, the Lagos state Police command’s public relations officer verified the stating that in spite of the effort to save her, it was already too late as she was confirmed dead on arrival

Hundeyin’s earlier statement reads “Today, March 13, 2025, at about 1600 hours, an unidentified woman reportedly jumped from the Third Mainland Bridge into the water near the UNILAG waterfront at approximately 1500 hours.

“She was recovered at the University of Lagos shore slipway by a team of marine police officers stationed in the area. Despite their efforts, she was confirmed dead by a team of UNILAG medical doctors in the presence of officers from the Sabo Police Division.”

The third mainland bridge is the longest bridge in Africa spanning over11 kilometers, connecting different parts of Lagos.
