A man in his 50s identified as only Odomma was discovered dead on Friday morning after allegedly committing suicide, causing tragedy in the Amakpu Okuku community in Imo State’s Owerri West Local Government Area.
According to residents, the father of four, who sold buckets and jerry cans of water, had long suffered from financial issues that prevented him from providing for his family which was believed to be the reason for his suicide.

His body was reported to have been discovered hanging in an uncompleted building near his residence as people headed out for their daily activities.
Villagers said that approximately three months ago, Odomma threatened to commit suicide, claiming that his wife and kids had stopped feeding him because he was unable to support them.

The deceased had expressed his grievances to a few pals, according to a community member who only went by the name Ikenna, who spoke to our correspondent.
According to witnesses, locals in their numbers trooped to the area as soon as they heard the news, swarming the incomplete building to get a look at the corpse and taking phone videos.

Odomma, who sold water for ₦100 and higher and was well-liked by the neighbourhood, was said to be industrious but had been exhibiting signs of depression lately.
When reached, the Police Public Relations Officer for Imo State, Henry Okoye, said he would check the incidence with the Divisional Police Officer of Owerri West.
