Man bags 10 years imprisonment for defiling his minor daughter.
Initially, the defendant denied defiling his child, blaming a woman he often left the child with after his wife’s departure for his arrest by the police. However, he later confessed to the crime and asked for leniency. His defense counsel also appealed for mercy, highlighting that he was a first-time offender and that the victim was his only child.
The court decided that the prison terms of seven, two, and one years should run concurrently, and the victim would remain under the care of the Anambra State Government.
In response to the verdict, Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Sylvia Ifemeje, who led the prosecution, welcomed the judgment. She emphasized that the government’s zero tolerance for sexual assaults is unwavering and hopes the ruling will deter other offenders. #naijaeyesblog
