Beware of Strong Winds: Strong, gusty winds often precede thunderstorms. The public is advised to secure loose objects like roofing sheets and outdoor furniture to prevent them from being blown away.
Travel and Commuting: It is highly recommended to avoid driving or embarking on long journeys during heavy rainfall, as visibility will be reduced and roads may become hazardous.
Electrical Safety: To prevent damage from power surges, residents should disconnect all electrical appliances during thunderstorms.
General Outdoor Safety: Keep a safe distance from tall trees, billboards, and communication masts, as they can be damaged by strong winds and lightning.
Special Advisory for Airline Operators
NiMet has also issued a specific advisory for the aviation sector. Airline operators are strongly urged to obtain up-to-date, airport-specific weather reports from the agency to ensure effective flight planning and guarantee the safety of passengers and crew.
