There is palpable panic as a fire broke out at Terminal 2 of the Lagos Airport- Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)have acknowledged the development in a statement, adding that it promptly dispatched its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) to the area to contain the outbreak and keep it from spreading further.
According to the authority, emergency professionals were aggressively fighting the fire and ensuring the safety of airport passengers and facilities in the terminal area.
FAAN assured the public that authorities had recorded no deaths or injuries as of the announcement, and that appropriate personnel were closely watching the situation.
“The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation,” the agency said.
While officials did not immediately determine the source of the fire, the airport authority stated that crews were working to thoroughly control the event and assess any potential damage.
FAAN stated that it would share additional information as investigations and emergency activities progressed.

Meanwhile, this is the second fire outbreak at the Lagos Airport in 7 months. On February 22, a fire outbreak gutted part of the old terminal at the Lagos International Airport on Monday, causing panic among airport workers and passengers in the area.
According to report, the reason of the fire outbreak was unknown at report time, although indications revealed that it began at 3:30 pm on Monday.
In a video now circulating, thick billows of smoke could be seen filling the air from the part of the airport engulfed in flames.
Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly within minutes before being brought under control. Several workers at the renovation site were evacuated as a safety measure.
Henry Agbebire, the head of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the incident.
