General Oversser of Salvation Ministries church, Pastor David Ibiyeomie
Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries has sent a message to Nigerian Christians.
Pastor Ibiyeomie warned them that their offerings should be bigger than their tithe.
The clergyman in a video posted on X, stated that tithing, which is 10 percent of ones income, is a key aspect to achieving prosperity.
Pastor Ibiyeomie said, “Tithe is the foundation of your covenant to prosperity. Don’t wait untill month end before you pay your tithe. Anytime you get money pay 10% back to God as a lifestyle.”

He also emphasized that offerings should be more than tithes, recommending the offering to be at least 20 percent of one’s income.
The pastor suggested that his his own financial well-being is connected to this practice, saying that increasing offerings can help prevent poverty.

He said in his sermon, “In a month your offering should be bigger than your tithe. My offering for instance, I don’t give less than 20 percent, that’s why I’m not poor. Increase your offering more than your tithe and you’ll never be broke.”
However, critics argue that the pastor’s suggestion would impose financial burden on believers and exploit them, especially in the face of economic difficulties.

Reacting to the sermon, a particular X user, Ikechukwu Seed Mkpulu, wrote:
“Offering 20%
Tithe 10%
Total 30%
30% of your hard earned money must go to Pastor Ibiyeomie’s bank account if you really want to go to heaven. Nigerian pastors are worse than Nigerian politicians. Tufiakwa.”
