Thousands of travellers and commuters passing through Ibadan on their way to Lagos and other major cities were left stranded on Saturday following the closure of major motor parks across the Oyo State capital due to the ongoing PDP convention.

Findings revealed that key parks in areas such as Iwo Road, New Ife Road, Ojoo, and Challenge were shut down.
Some drivers, speaking with local reporters, explained that the closures were linked to the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention taking place in the historic city.
Our correspondent observed that vehicles coming from other cities and towns with the aim of dropping or carrying passengers found it difficult to do so as a result of the closure of the parks due to the ongoing PDP convention.
At Iwo Road and New Ife Road, It was gathered that travellers to Lagos and other cities and towns could not get transportation to their destinations on Saturday because of the PDP convention.

Travellers reportedly had to trek long distances outside the city to find means of transportation to their destinations.
The driver who spoke to our reporter said, the parks were closed as a result of the PDP convention, but did not give further details on why the parks had to be closed for, the convention.
He said “It will be difficult to load or offload passengers today. All the parks in Ibadan have been shut. Even not only in Ibadan, all the parks in Oyo State. It is a statewide thing. No work today.
“It is throughout the state. No work today. You can see people trekking”.
