The national working committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially issued a suspension from the party to Samuel Anyanwu, the national secretary; and Kamaldeen Ajibade; the national legal adviser.
Additionally, the party suspended Umaru Bature, national organising secretary, and Okechukwu Osuoha, deputy legal adviser.
The suspension was announced during a news conference on Saturday by PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba, who also stated that the decision came after an emergency meeting of the NWC in Abuja.

He stated that the officials have been sent to a disciplinary body and that the punishment would initially run for one month.
“During this period of the suspension, they cease to function in their respective capacities,” Ologunagba said.
He stated that the deputy legal adviser would take Ajibade’s place, while Setonji Koshoedo, the deputy national secretary, would act as national secretary.

The PDP’s internal crisis has taken a new turn as it prepares for its national convention, which is scheduled for November 15 and 16.
Recall that a federal high court in Abuja halted the opposition party’s scheduled national conference on Friday.
The party failed to hold legitimate state congresses prior to the planned national convention as required by the 1999 constitution, the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) guidelines, and its own constitution, according to evidence presented to the court by presiding judge James Omotosho.

The judge ruled that the PDP’s scheduled convention was in danger due to its noncompliance with the law and advised the party to make amends before the event.
Consequently, the court barred INEC from receiving, publishing, or recognising any outcome from the proposed convention until the PDP meets all statutory requirements.
Anyanwu, an ally of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, recently accused the party of falsifying his signature on letters alerting the INEC to the convention.
