Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has officially  registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

During the party’s membership and mobilisation activity flag-off on Saturday, Obi enrolled at Agulu ward 2 in Anaocha LGA of Anambra.

Arise Television reports that Obi declared he will take the Electoral Act 2026 to court, claiming it was “hurriedly passed” in order to influence the results of the 2027 elections.

He went on to say that there is no justification for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to control how political parties choose their candidates in primary elections.

“All the laws being hurriedly churned out now are simply aimed at enabling them to snatch the 2027 presidential election and run away with it,” Obi said.

“But this time, we will catch them. We have seen all the reviews of the Electoral Act, and INEC has no reason to dictate how parties should elect their candidates

“INEC should focus on how to conduct elections. They now choose to abandon their work as referee and then want to teach a coach how to select their players.

“We want to register as many people as possible because the election of 2027 will be against bad leadership.”
