Suspected cattle rustlers, motorcycle thieves, and drug traffickers have been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command in separate operations across the state.

During the raids, officers recovered a vehicle, several motorcycles, illicit substances, and stolen livestock.
The state police spokesperson, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, said the arrests were carried out as part of ongoing efforts by the Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammad, to reinforce the state’s security framework and curb criminal activities.
He explained that on January 15, 2026, a patrol team in Hadejia intercepted a dark green Golf 3 vehicle along Hadejia/Kano Road, saying that the vehicle, driven by Adamu Sani Ya’u with Musa Abdullahi as passenger, was suspected to have been used in transporting stolen livestock.

According to him, “Officers reportedly found animal droppings, hair, rope, suspected Indian hemp, a Rizler, a blanket and an extra number plate inside the vehicle. The suspects are being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Dutse.”
He further explained that in Taura Local Government Area, criminals blocked a road and robbed a resident of his motorcycle, stressing that the bike was later recovered through intelligence-led operations in the area by the police.
The spokesman stated that detectives in Birnin Kudu also arrested three suspected motorcycle thieves and recovered a Bajaj motorcycle, pointing out that another unregistered motorcycle was also recovered in Hadejia after a suspect fled on sighting the police.
