Former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has announced his intention to contest for a senatorial seat in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Okowa made this known on Monday, signaling his return to active electoral politics.
The seat is currently held by billionaire businessman Ned Nwoko, who represents the district.

The former governor, who was also the 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealed that he plans to run for the position under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okowa served as governor of Delta State from 2015 to 2023.
