2027: LP Will Help South-East Achieve Presidency – Abure

Labor Party National Chairman, Julius Abure, said that the party ahead of the election set for 2027 general elections would help actualize the South-eastern dream of ruling Nigeria.

Abure said there was no regret in zoning the ticket to the Southeast because Igbos are industrious, hardworking, and fearless.

He further disclosed that the LP would still support the Southeast to achieve its ambition of ruling Nigeria.

Abure spoke Sunday during a rally organized by LP members from the South-East in preparation for the Abuja Area Council elections set for next year, stating that the Southeast needs to realign with other regions to achieve its ambition of ruling Nigeria.

Recall that Peter Obi, who hails from the Southeast, was the presidential flag bearer of the party in the 2023 election.

He, however, lost the contest to President Bola Tinubu, the emerging winner while he came third behind former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Abure said: “Before the 2023 general elections, I used to believe erroneously that South East people were not united.

“But when Peter Obi joined the party, and I went around the country campaigning on behalf of him, I discovered that the Igbos are the most united, industrious, hardworking and fearless.

“This is why today, I have no regret that we zoned the presidential ticket of our party to the South-East despite all odds.

“That was done powerfully and courageously in the 2023 general elections. But I think that the Igbos must also go back to the drawing board.

“This is because the Igbos need more realignment with the other sections of the country.

“I want to assure you that the Labour Party is still ready and available to support Ndigbo to realise the ambition of ruling the country in future.”
