The Defence Headquarters has announced that Simon Ekpa and 96 others are wanted for terrorism.
The Defence Headquarters announced on Friday that 97 individuals are wanted for terrorism, violent extremism, and secessionist threats against the state. Major Gen. Edwaed Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the names and pictures of the wanted individuals in Abuja. These wanted persons, including terrorists, bandits, and insurgent commanders, hail from various regions, including the North East, North West, North Central, and South-East zones.
No bounty has been placed on these wanted persons by the military authorities. In the North West, which is plagued by banditry and kidnapping, 43 individuals were declared wanted. Some of the bandits/terrorists leaders include Alhaji Shingi, Malindi Yakubu, Boka, Dogo Gide, and Halilu Sububu.

Among those declared wanted is Simon Ekpa, the factional leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), along with other individuals from the South East. They include Obiemesi Chukwudi, David Ezekwem Chidiebube, and Amobi Chinonso Okafor.
