A new minimum wage of N72,000 for Kaduna State civil servants, beginning November 2024, has been agreed by Governor Uba Sani.

Ibrahim Musa, his chief press secretary, said in a statement that the decision is consistent with his administration’s dedication to improving the lives of the poor, vulnerable, and underserved in Kaduna State as well as advancing workers’ interests.
Additionally, it is consistent with Governor Uba Sani’s longstanding dedication to advancing and defending workers’ rights, improving their welfare, and providing for the weak and impoverished.

The announcement also stated that 100 CNG buses will be released as part of Governor Uba Sani’s planned Free Transportation Scheme for civil staff.
The spokesman for Governor Sani stated that the buses will be used to transport civil staff to and from work, with the goal of reducing workers’ misery and increasing their output.
The statement went on to say that the State Government and members of organized labor (NLC and TUC) will form a Joint Management Committee to oversee the Free Transportation Scheme for civil officials.


“To help the people, the Kaduna State Government will keep creating and enforcing policies and initiatives. Our goal is to improve the lives of those who are less fortunate. According to earlier reports, on Thursday, Kano State Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf approved N71,000 as the minimum pay for civil officials.

According to him; “I will like to point out that Kano state has one of the largest employees in Nigeria, reflected of our population’s size and specific local needs together with our financial limitations, including the low Internally Generated Income (IGR) we inherited, we have decided to implement the new national minimum salary of N72,000.”
Governor Yusuf indicated that the adoption of the minimum wage will increase the state’s monthly compensation commitments by more than N6 billion, and that an extra N7 billion is required for all 44 local government councils.
