In response to the remarks, Orji advised Ikpeazu to take responsibility for his actions and refrain from making thoughtless remarks about other people.
Speaking through Ifeanyi Umere, his media assistant, Orji chastised Ikpeazu for claiming to have met Abia in a depressed mood.
He said he was shocked that Ikpeazu both criticized his predecessor and denounced leaders who criticize their predecessors in the same sentence.

Additionally, he claimed that successors are “lazy leaders” if they attack their predecessors while in government.
The previous governor advised his successor to accept accountability for his deeds and inactions during his tenure in office rather than placing the blame elsewhere.

Orji went on to say, “Government is not necessarily about making speeches, so Ikpeazu should once again carry his cross and take responsibility for his actions and inactions instead of looking for who to blame.”
